The Youth Empowerment in Climate Action Platform (YECAP) is inviting applications for a comprehensive six-month youth-led regional fellowship program to train young leaders across Asia and the Pacific for a meaningful youth engagement in climate action.
The fellowship will be included in modules on climate education, community engagement, mobilization and outreach in wider networks, and opportunities for fellows to work together as a collective and personal capstone project. This is an unpaid scholarship program.
During the third cohort, the YECAP Fellowship Program will provide a platform for 100 young people from across Asia-Pacific to work with a diverse group of young climate activists and help raise their voices to advocate for climate change. climate action priorities and systematic change throughout the journey. Fellows will join the six-month fellowship in the following areas – communication, coordination and specialist.

YECAP Scholarship Steps
- Creation: Launch of the scholarship application, selection of applications and pre-selection to integrate the selected scholarship holders.
- Mentoring: Guide fellows to choose a particular team to work with and participate in different tasks and activities during the fellowship to enrich their experience.
- Scaling : Guide fellows to improve their skills through monthly trainings and progress meetings, take advantage of peer-to-peer learning opportunities, and launch climate ideas to implement at the next level.
- Networking: Connect with local youth networks, startups, private sector, governments, development organizations to scale up program impact by implementing climate action ideas in local communities.
time commitment
- Selected fellows will work closely with the respective team leaders during this fellowship and will be required to commit up to 4-5 hours per week.
- The scholarship will ideally start on August 21, 2022 for 6 months extended up to 1 month if necessary. The start date must be no later than August 25, 2022 and the end date must be no later than March 31, 2023.
Eligibility criteria
- Any young person from the Asia-Pacific region, aged 18 to 35
- Can commit to the 6 month program which involves 4-5 hours of weekly commitment
- Determined to improve your climate action and expand your impact nationally and regionally
- Minimum of one year of work experience in community development, climate change or youth engagement.
