Young people here: democracy now! Apply now to take part in the Council of Europe Youth Action Week (Strasbourg, 27 June – 2 July 2022, DL 19 May 2022, 11:00 CET)

The Council of Europe Youth Department is calling for participants for the event Young People Here: Democracy Now! The Council of Europe Youth Action Week which will take place in Strasbourg from 27 June to 2 July 2022.

Youth Action Week is the flagship event of the Democracy here | democracy now campaign and the 50th anniversary of the youth sector at the Council of Europe. The event is organized under the patronage of the Irish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe and in partnership with the City of Strasbourg.

It will bring together activists, civil society, Member States and youth sector partners to strengthen the youth campaign to revitalize democracy and celebrate the 50e anniversary of the youth sector of the Council of Europe.


  • Discuss and deepen understanding of current challenges and attacks on democracy and their impact on young people and society
  • Design and plan interventions, activities, actions, projects in the youth campaign with a focus on democracy revitalization, meaningful youth participation and digitalization
  • Celebrating fifty years of the Council of Europe’s youth sector and reflecting on its relevance for young people, youth policy and the Council of Europe’s mission in promoting human rights, democracy and Right wing state
  • Giving impetus to common action and cooperation within the framework of Democracy Here | Democracy Now campaign locally, nationally and internationally.

The week will culminate in a Commitment to Action containing proposals and recommendations for action at the local, national and international levels as part of the Democracy Here | Democracy Now youth campaign aimed at revitalizing democracy and supporting the meaningful participation of young people in democratic processes and institutions.
