Yorkville Library November Youth Programs – Shaw Local

Yorkville Public Library has announced the following upcoming youth programs.

Escape Room Adventure: An Escape Adventure will be available in November. Use the clues to open the boxes and forgive the Thanksgiving turkey. Contact Youth Services to make an appointment at 630-553-4354 ext. 108 or come see us.

Story time: Every Friday at 10:30 am This story hour takes place in the children’s area of ​​the library. A Friends of the Library volunteer is the special reader.

3D printing: Leah English provides a step by step tutorial on how to use Tinkercad. Tinkercad is an easy to use 3D CAD design tool, where you can create an object that we can print on our 3D printer. Check out the library’s YouTube channel, follow the steps to create your own 3D printed part. Prints cost $0.20 per gram. Submit your designs to jweiss@yorkville.lib.il.us.

TAG- Teen Advisory Group: Tuesday, November 15, 2:45-3:45 p.m. Teens in grades 8-12 come together to share ideas about the teen space at the library and how to support Yorkville. They help create and plan programs. This group also has the opportunity to earn volunteer hours. A great opportunity to meet new people and have fun and laugh.

Toddlers and toddlers: Wednesday, November 23, 10:30 a.m. Join us for songs, stories and dancing. Your child will receive a craft to do at home. Register for this event on the YPL website under Events Calendar.

Storytime in Spanish on Facebook: Wednesday, November 23, 10 a.m. on the YPL Facebook page. Join Señora Katalina on the Yorkville Public Library Facebook page for Spanish Story Time. This is recorded for your convenience.

Literacy centers: Tuesday, Nov. 15 – Thursday, Nov. 17, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 18, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For ages 3-6. Stop to experience a parent-guided opportunity for hands-on literacy instruction. Literacy centers are designed to give children many opportunities to practice the very important skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking.

Little Fox Clubhouse Story Time: Tuesday, November 15, 11 a.m. Join Mrs. Jennette for story time at the Little Fox Clubhouse, 2645 N. Bridge St., Yorkville, then stay and play.

Harry Potter Book Club: Thursday, November 17, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Hey Muggles, the Harry Potter Book Club is back. Join Mackenzie each month for a magical discussion about each book in the series. Read “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” for the November 17 meeting. The group will discuss the book and participate in fun activities. There will be a Harry Potter party after the last book is completed. Register on the YPL website under Events Calendar. Space is limited.

Reading with paws: Saturday, November 19, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Children can come to the library, choose a book and read to a furry friend. All therapy dogs and handlers have been certified by an accredited body. This program was originally designed because children feel less pressure to read to a dog than to an adult; so it was meant to be a way to help struggling readers or even just to encourage reading. It is open to all levels of readers and non-readers. Contact the library at 630-553-4354 ext. 108 for your 15 minute time slot. Space is limited.

Card making for teens: Tuesday, November 22, 2:45-3:45 p.m. We are making greeting cards to be distributed to residents of Yorkville’s Heritage Woods and Cedarhurst. You can brighten someone’s day while earning volunteer hours. Register on the YPL website.

YA Book Club: On Tuesday, November 29, from 4-4:30 p.m., Mackenzie will lead the group in a discussion about this month’s book. The book is available for pick-up from November 8 at the Youth Service office. Registration is mandatory.

4-H Scientific Explorers: Tuesday, Nov. 29, 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. For 5 to 8 year olds. In 4-H, you learn by doing, have fun, and develop important life skills. This workshop focuses on genetics. Students will discuss and discover DNA, then create a bracelet to reinforce what they have learned. Registration is mandatory.

The library is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Curbside service is available for those who do not wish to enter the library.
