Nigeria Youth Future Fund Application 2022

LEAP Africa in partnership with the MacArthur Foundation and the Ford Foundation, sought to establish the Nigeria Youth Futures Fund (NYFF) to provide targeted capacity building, youth ecosystem strengthening and financial support to burgeoning youth movements in Nigeria, to support their work locally and facilitate learning opportunities.

Grant Thematic Areas

  • Employment and educationApplicants should consider youth-focused initiatives that aim to support young people in their education and boost employment opportunities. Such initiatives should be inclusive and target results-oriented activities among young people.
  • Media, Sport and EntertainmentProjects that promote and strengthen youth activities in media, sports and entertainment. Identifying and promoting youth media platforms and creative talent should be a priority.
  • HealthConcepts should focus on youth health issues such as drug and substance abuse, sexual and reproductive health, mental health and others
  • Consolidation of peace and securityThis prioritizes concepts that promote cultural integration, peaceful coexistence, armed forces and civil relations, and many more.
  • ICT and entrepreneurshipICT-driven solutions that create values ​​and have a sustainable business model.
  • Climate change and environmentInitiatives and ideas that address drought and desertification, land degradation, more frequent extreme weather events, affected freshwater, water resources and biodiversity loss
  • Civic participationinitiatives and ideas that contribute to increasing youth engagement/participation in politics and leadership.

Eligibility Criteria for Individual and Organization

    • The grantee must be a young changemaker (aged 15-35) with a proven track record working on a sustainable solution that directly addresses one of the seven thematic areas.
    • The recipient must demonstrate a good understanding of and experience in strategic planning, vision setting and project management.
    • Recipient must demonstrate experience and knowledge of community or team building following the principles of honesty and integrity
    • The Beneficiary must demonstrate talent and passion for new behaviors, standards and actions,
      The beneficiary must have authentic identity documents or be attached to an institution.
    • The beneficiary must provide a criminal record and provide 3 reputable referees.
  • The organization must be an organization officially registered with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission. Alternatively, an unregistered organization can form a cluster and apply through a registered organization.
  • The organization must have a capacity for partnership in all the States of its geopolitical region.
  • The organization must have a police certificate, tax receipt and SCUML certificate
  • The organization must have a good track record and a suitable track record.
  • Transformational youth-focused, civic and transformational center activities as per grant category, working on sustainable solutions that directly address one of the agreed thematic areas.
  • The organization must have a physical address, a business account with good financial status and records.

This type of grant is for 6o beneficiaries (Individual)

$500 to $1,000

Action grant

For 40 Grassroots and Community Organizations

$1,000 to $3,000

Development grant

For 25 youth-led and youth-focused organizations $3,000 to $6,000

Catalytic grant

For 6 Civic and Innovation Centers focused on youth-focused activities across Nigeria$40,000

For this first grant cycle, the cycle will run from June to December 2022

The age range of the applicant is 18 to 35 years old.

Submission Guidelines

Applicants should submit a concept note/proposal, no longer than 2000 words, following the guidelines set out and the proposal template
