The youth council will meet virtually monthly to help restore and maintain the local environment
For the first time, the Junction Creek Stewardship Committee will establish a Youth Council for the 2022/23 school year. The inaugural Junction Creek Youth Council will be comprised of 12 Greater Sudbury high school students who are committed to the environmental health of Junction Creek and the community at large.
Working together to develop and implement strategies to engage students, the Youth Council will meet virtually every month, starting September 28, to contribute ideas and discuss areas of concern, while developing and expanding their knowledge. on environmental stewardship. An advocate of projects and volunteerism, the council will educate, encourage and mobilize Sudbury’s youth to restore and sustain the local environment for future generations.
Volunteer hours will be earned by council members participating in litter cleanup, tree planting and other environmental restoration activities. The youth council will also work on a year-end project designed to highlight the importance of Junction Creek and raise awareness in the community.
Space is limited, so apply early.
