National Youth Sports Week will culminate with an in-person “Play Day” in Atlanta hosted by Olympic Champion Sanya Richards-Ross
ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USA, Oct. 24, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — Honoring young athletes and the organizations that serve them, the National Youth Sports Council – through a collaboration with sports technology leader for young people, SportsEngine – will host National Youth Sports Week from October 24-29 dedicated to educating and inspiring parents, coaches, volunteers and administrators.
The six-day celebration will include virtual and live events, which will promote topics such as the importance of child safety, coaching excellence and health and wellness. Each day will be themed with content and activities presented in partnership with NBC Sports Next’s SportsEngine, TrueSport, Positive Coaching Alliance, National Center for Safety Initiatives and LakePoint Sports. The event is free and open to the public.

The National Youth Sports Week program includes virtual and live events including learning webinars, award nominations, advice sessions for coaches and administrators, ideas and checklists for families and participation activities. Additionally, SportsEngine will host a special edition of the For the Love of Sport podcast focusing on information and resources on young athlete safety.
Monday October 24
NCYS will kick off the week’s activities by sharing ideas and information on the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in Sport. Participants will be encouraged to share what they have learned on social media, using the hashtag #nationalyouthsportsweek.
Tuesday, October 25
Coaches Day by Positive Coaching Alliance will provide tips on how to be an effective coach, as well as opportunities to sign up as a volunteer. A coaching webinar titled “Developing Winners in Life Through Sport” will also be offered, along with access to select APC curriculum courses. The training will also be available courtesy of the CoachSafely Foundation.
Wednesday October 26
TrueSport’s Athlete Health and Wellness Day will highlight the tools, resources and content that support a physically and mentally healthy athlete. Learn about nutrition and habits that promote good mental health.
Thursday, October 27
NCSI (National Center for Safety Initiatives) Sports Safety Day will promote the importance of safety on and off the field through background checks, prevention and training of abuse, concussion awareness, etc. The day will conclude with a live webinar, bringing together industry leaders from the US Center for SafeSport, USA Lacrosse and USA Artistic Swimming to discuss the future of safety (in youth sports). The panel will begin at 2 p.m. ET. Registration is open to all organizations, administrators, volunteers, coaches and parents.
Friday, October 28
Spirit Day by SportsEngine offers athletes, coaches and parents the opportunity to win prizes by showing their team pride by wearing their team jerseys or spirit gear and sharing them on social media. Plus, they can learn about some of the greatest sports traditions and how to create their own.
Saturday October 29
Play Day by NCYS invites young sports fans from the greater Atlanta area to an in-person experience at the 1,300-acre LakePoint Sports campus in Emerson, Georgia. The day will be hosted by Olympic sprint champion Sanya Richards-Ross and will feature hands-on activities for young athletes and their families in basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball and futsol. Joining Richards-Ross will be members of the Harlem Globetrotters and Freddie Falcon of the Atlanta Falcons NFL team. Richards-Ross will also host an autograph session.
