AizawlMizoram Minister of Livestock and Veterinary Affairs Dr K. Beichhua on Thursday inaugurated a district veterinary hospital in Lawngtlai town in southern Mizoram. Construction of Rs 90 lakh project started in March 2019
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Beichhua said that the state government has made considerable efforts for the development of the state and has undertaken project work despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the government has built new veterinary hospitals in seven districts and four of them, including the new hospital opened in Lawngtlai, have been opened so far.
The government has already allocated funds for the construction of three more veterinary hospitals, he added.
Efforts were being made to set up hatcheries at Tanhril Veterinary Farm near Aizawl and Mampui in Lawngtlai District.
The minister also said the government is making efforts to ensure that the state becomes self-reliant on meat and other meat products. According to him, currently 70 percent of the meat consumed in the state is imported from other states.
