Local youth learn about the progress of the Ellenbrook Youth Center

Construction of the Ellenbrook Youth Center is well underway with drainage, footings and concrete slab installation now complete.

In June 2022, local young people joined the Swan Town Youth Development Team on a site visit to inspect the recent works.

The youth received plans and a tour from construction supervisors to see the center take shape firsthand.

Swan Town Youth Development Co-ordinator Debbie McCabe said the site visit is one of the many ways the town is ensuring local young people are involved in the Ellenbrook Youth Center project.

“Young people have been an integral part of the planning process since the feasibility study began in 2017,” said Debbie.

“They showed a keen interest in the project and provided valuable feedback and insight into the proposed Youth Center layout, as well as program ideas.

“Giving young people the opportunity to see the youth center being built and experience what they want most means that the end result will be a facility that young people can take ownership of and be proud of.”

Scheduled to be completed by mid-2023, the long-awaited center will provide a safe space for young people in Ellenbrook and surrounding suburbs to socialize, connect, engage and participate in a range of health, well-being and development.
