Index | Prime Time Youth Care

To meet your before and after school needs, the Ottumwa School District offers a youth care program, Prime Time Youth Care (PTYC). PTYC now serves PK-5 grades in a new location. The new addition to the Pickwick Early Childhood Center will house all of our before and after school child care. We will transport K-5 students to their home school each morning and drive back to Pickwick after school. A link to our program registration form for the 2021-2022 school year is below.

PTYC is a pay-as-you-go program. There is also an annual registration fee of $10 per child with a maximum amount of $20. If you have any questions or would like fee information, please contact the principal’s office at 641-683-6337 (option 1) or visit the district’s website at

BEFORE SCHOOL: The morning program is open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. or until classes start on school attendance days and late start days. Pupils are transported by bus to their school. A bus schedule will be posted so you can make sure your child is on time to catch the bus.

AFTER SCHOOL: The after-school program operates from the time students leave school until 6 p.m. in Pickwick. Activities include games, crafts, enrichment, homework and technology. Children are bussed from their primary school to the site through a responsible childcare system. You must notify the program director or secretary of your child’s school if your child will or will not attend PTYC or if their attendance status changes. There is a non-refundable annual registration fee of $10 per child with a maximum amount of $20 per family.

NO SCHOOL DAYS: If the school is canceled due to inclement weather, the PTYC will only open at the Pickwick site, for students enrolled in the PTYC. We are not open on public holidays. A schedule with specific dates can be found on the district’s website at

SUMMER: The PTYC program is open during the District’s summer vacation at one location. It operates from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, from the first day of summer vacation until the day before the start of the new school year. Children can attend full days or half days (5 hours or less). Programming aims to provide students with a fun and engaging summer with almost daily excursion options available. Children entering kindergarten in the fall and who are five years old can attend PTYC in the summer BEFORE kindergarten.

We look forward to serving your child(ren) in our program!
