QUẢNG BÌNH — The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Youth Volunteer Forum Plus and ASEAN Youth Volunteer Awards Plus opened Wednesday in the central province of Quảng Bình.
The four-day event, organized by the National Committee for Youth of Việt Nam (NCYV) and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth Union of Hồ Chí Minh (HCMYU), brings together 50 volunteers from ASEAN countries and Japan.
It aims to provide an opportunity for young people from ASEAN plus to exchange ideas and experiences in the field of volunteering, and to introduce the culture and people of Việt Nam as well as the socio-economic development of the country to friends. international. Outstanding individuals and organizations from ASEAN plus countries are also honored at the event.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyễn Tường Lâm, Secretary of HCMYU and Permanent Vice President of NCYV, said the world has witnessed and experienced unprecedented challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in course of the past three years. Many volunteering activities and projects have been carried out across the region and around the world to overcome these challenges.
He noted that many community initiatives have been rolled out by Vietnamese youth, focusing on activities on digital platforms.
Lam said he expects a network of volunteer individuals and organizations in the region to be built after the event, helping to spread the spirit of volunteerism and jointly contributing to the recovery and development of the region and the world. —VNS
